The importance of colour boosts after Microblading and other permanent makeup treatments

by El Truchan Microblading and Permanent Makeup London Award-winning Artist

You’ve probably noticed the trend for microblading , an alternative to penciling in your eyebrows that accentuates and shapes the eyebrow using an effect that looks incredibly natural. If you have spent any time on Instagram recently you will have seen endless examples of how great microblading can look.

But there is still some misunderstanding about eyebrow microblading, and one of those is just how important colour boosts are to the process. The thing is, if you have microblading treatment in London or anywhere else, you walk out with incredible looking eyebrows, especially after the healing process is complete, that can even fool your own eyes into thinking they are real hair, so it can be easy to think that is all you need.

But isn’t the end of this incredible procedure, and there are a couple of reasons why.

Say goodbye over time….

What do we mean by that? Well, when you have a microblading treatment, the tool features sharp needles that are aligned together to form the tiny blades that put colour in the surface layers of the skin. Those upper layers are constantly exposed to the sun and other elements, which damages the skin cells, and this is one of the reasons microblading can fade over time. The amount of fade will vary from person to person, and is affected by the usual skin cellular renewal and also products/ creams / serums we use, but for most people a microblading colour boost is needed every 12months. We recommend this to everyone who visits our London Microblading and Permanent Makeup Clinic, Perfect Definition. In general, permanent makeup treatments will fade out between 1 and 3.5 years but the maintenance visits are expected on an annual basis.

What else can cause fading?

Microblading is incredibly popular because of that great, natural look, but that can only be obtained by an application in the upper layers of the skin. Microblading gives the appearance of natural hairs and we always work with your skin type and tone as well as taking into account your desired look. Who wants to spend time everyday pencilling in the perfect brows when you can have your eyes microbladed? Once you have it you will want to keep it topped up!

However, this also means that the colour can fade over time. If you use facials such as dermabrasion, peels and other such treatments, they can break down the colour, causing it to fade. Over time the colour and definition will fade each time we wipe, or wash our faces, go for swim, sunbathe. But fear not this is the very reason why we arrange a colour boost appointment for you.

Why colour boosts are great…

By having regular boosts you can catch the existing microblading treatment before it fades completely, allowing you to enjoy a microblading colour boost that gives back the definition of the first application. Not only does that give you back that fantastic, but natural looking fuller brows you desire it saves you those precious minutes every day.

A microblading colour boost will keep your brows looking as good as possible. Even if you are happy with your look, you can use the opportunity to add depth or refine the colour, to make sure that your microbladed eyebrows are the very best they can be.
